Bonjour Harmon! Are you interested in learning about France, the French language, culture, and the French speaking world? Then French Club is for you! The French Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday, October 14 in Madame Eaton's room, 106. We will meet right after school, and this first meeting will last until around 3:15. All students and grades are welcome! Hope to see you there! Au revoir!

Auditions for the Harmon musical Dot and the Kangaroo will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 20 & 21 after school in the Harmon orchestra room from 2:45-4:00pm. Please see Mr. Downing in the choir room, or Mrs. Howell and Mrs. Tejada in the main office to pick up your information packet and sign up in the Google Classroom.

Today: Animal Lovers Club, Bike Club, & Newspaper Club

There will be no rec in the Media Center today. Once again no rec in the Media Center.

The Bike Club will have its final ride today to McDonald's. Please bring money with you if you wish to purchase items at McDonald's. In addition, bring your helmet, water bottle, and ensure your bike is in working order. Meet in room 121 at 2:30. Your ride home should be at Harmon at 4:00. Congratulations to the 7th Grade football team on two wins this week! They beat Orange and Brecksville for the last two games of their season.

The cross country teams traveled to Tallmadge to take on the host Blue Devils & Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders yesterday. The course was beautiful and many of our runners posted their best times of the season. The boys led off the day with a split, dropping their contest against Tallmadge but eclipsing Kent, earning a second place finish in the tri meet. Leading the charge were Gabe Courtnage with a 16th place finish, Owen Fellenstein with a 12th place, Avery Occhinero with an 11th place, Cole Porter with a 9th place, & Charlie Giardina with a 5th place overall finish. The girls continued their perfect season with a sweep of Tallmadge and Kent. Leading the team for the girls were Amelia Leindecker with an 8th place finish, Aubrey Riccelli with a 7th, Olivia Cicero in 6th, Valerie Kandra in 5th, Luci Witham in 4th, & Kylie Milner in 2nd. The teams will finish their season this Saturday at the Legends Invitational at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. Good luck!

Stock Market Club will meet today after school in room 107 until 3:15. Please bring a charged Chromebook to the meeting and make sure you have a ride to pick you up. See Mr. Tirpak if you have any questions.

The Bike Club will have its fifth and final ride on Wednesday, October 7 to McDonald's. Remember to bring money if you would like to purchase items while at McDonald's. Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams on an outstanding season! Both teams fought hard in their final tournament over the weekend and both were able to secure some great wins!

The cross country teams traveled to Woodridge on Saturday morning to compete in the Woodridge Invitational. The course is known as one of the most challenging races in the country, weaving itself through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Both teams embraced the challenges and put together strong performances. The boys finished in 11th place. Leading the way were Charlie Giardina with a 26th overall finish, Porter Cole with a 37th place finish, and Avery Occhinero with a 67th place. The girls pushed themselves to another first place team finish with a score of 55 points. Leading the way were Colette Griffin with a 16th place finish, Olivia Occhinero with a 12th place, Luci Witham with a 7th place, and the girls were led by Kylie Milner who finished the race in 3rd with a time of 12:45. The teams will begin their final week of the season tomorrow at Tallmadge. Great job teams.

Today: Quiz Bowl

There will be a Quiz Bowl meeting today, October 2 in Mrs. Sunderhaft's room until 3:30. If you plan to attend a tournament at any time this year, then you must order a Harmon Quiz Bowl shirt. They are $15 each and your money and order form must be in to Mrs. Sunderhaft by the end of this week. We will NOT be ordering any more shirts after today.

Congratulations to seventh and eighth grade volleyball on an awesome win against Hudson last night! Way to end the regular season strong. Good luck in your tournament this weekend!

The cross country teams traveled to Solon to compete in a tri meet against the host Comets and the visiting Hudson Explorers. Both teams posted amazing times and several runners improved their scores drastically. The boys finished in 3rd place even after posting their best team score. Leading the charge for the boys were Avery Occhinero, Porter Cole, & Charlie Giardina who finished with an exact time of 12:00. The girls found themselves in a pretty evenly matched contest. Kylie Milner led all racers with an overall first place finish and teammate Colette Griffin finished in third. But it was Lucy Witham who provided the heroics as she passed a pack of Solon and Hudson runners on the final leg to give the girls a 1 point lead and their next 1st place finish. Congratulations to the teams and good luck tomorrow as they compete in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park at the Woodridge Invitational. A special shoutout to Owen Bush for his personal best time.

One of them will be crowned the Fastest Puzzler. Who will it be?

Please do not put your gum on your lunch tray. This messes up our dishwasher. Also, when returning your lunch tray please make sure you throw your trash in the garbage cans and don’t over stack the trays.

The next Animal Lovers Club will be Wednesday, October 7 after school in Mrs. Schofield Carter's room.

The cross country teams competed over the weekend at the Cloverleaf Invitational in Norton. All four teams had great showings and challenged themselves on a difficult course. The open boys finished in tenth place. The top runners for the open boys were Ketan Naara, Gavin Sands, & Luke Stephans. The open girls finished in 5th place. The top runners for the open girls were Anika Mathur, Maddy Harvey, & Jacqueline Fete. The varsity boys finished in 13th place. The top runners were Charlie Giardina, Porter Cole, & Owen Fellenstein. But the girls varsity maintained their dominance with a dramatic race. Even through a course error that led the girls to race an extra half mile, the girls stole a first place finish from Wadsworth. The top runners were Amelia Occhinero, Colette Griffin, & Kylie Milner who claimed the top spot. But the dramatics came down to Amelia Leindecker who snuck past the final Wadsworth runner at the finish line to give the girls a 1 point victory. Great job to all runners. The teams will travel to Solon for a tough matchup against the host team and Hudson. Good luck!

Come out and support the volleyball teams in their final home game of the season! 7th grade plays at 5, followed by 8th grade. Good luck volleyball, finish the season strong!

It's back. Stock Market Club is returning for its upcoming fall season. Students from grades 6th, 7th, & 8th grade can create teams of 1-5 students to learn about stocks and manage their own virtual $100,000 investment account while competing against other schools across Ohio for the chance to win real money. To register, please see Mr. Tirpak in room 107 to pick up a permission slip or if you have any questions. The cost of each team is $15 and you must return your permission slip signed by a parent by Thursday, October 1 to compete.

Start with Hello Week continues....today we are wearing green for Wear Green Wednesday and tomorrow you will be able to acknowledge teachers and staff members who have made a difference to you. There will be slips in the Media Center and at lunch. You can deposit your slips in the "Staff Member" box in the office or give them to the teacher or staff member and they can put their own slip in the box. We will continue to also recognize students throughout the week. One staff member and student from each grade will be chosen on Friday to win a prize. Friday will be "New Friend Friday". We encourage everyone to mix it up at lunch and sit with new friends!

Come out and support the volleyball teams as they take on Mayfield tonight at home! Only two home games left in the season. 8th grade plays first at 5, followed by 7th grade. Good luck volleyball!

Congratulations to the cross country teams on another outstanding performance at Mayfield yesterday. Running through the rain and wetlands didn't slow our teams down as both teams put together great runs. The boys split their tri meet, dropping to Twinsburg 26 to 29. The boys then finished in a tie with Mayfield with scores of 28, but thanks to Owen Fellenstein who broke the tie and gave the boys an overall 2nd place finish. Top performers were Porter Cole, Charlie Giardina, Avery Occhinero, Nathan Maione, & Ryan Kolli. The girls had a perfect sweep as the top 8 finishers were all Aurora runners, finishing their line with a 15, the best score a team can earn. The girls were led by Natalie Zagorski, Lucy Witham, Olivia Cicero, Valeria Kandra, Amelia Occhinero, Aubrey Riccelli, Colette Griffin, & the 1st place individual Kylie Milner. The teams will compete at the Cloverleaf Invitational this Saturday. Great job and keep up the good work!

Yesterday we started our celebration of "Start with Hello" Week. The purpose of Start with Hello Week is to help us build meaningful connections and foster a community of inclusion and belonging at Hamon. Today is Upstander Tuesday and students will receive recognition from teachers for being kind, respectful, & responsible. If you get a slip of recognition from a teacher, please put in the correct grade level box found in the front office. Names will be drawn for prizes on Friday. Wednesday we will all wear green! We will announce events for the rest of the week in the next few days!

The Bike Club will have its second ride tomorrow - Wednesday, September 16 - from 2:30 to 4:00. We will meet in room 121. Make sure you have a helmet, water bottle, and a working bike. In addition, have your ride pick you up promptly at 4:00. Please contact Mrs. Beckstrom with any questions.

Do you like playing pick-up sports and trying different sports and games? Then Intramural Club is the club for YOU! Each week, we will choose a different sport or game to play, so there will always be something new and fun to try. Our first meeting will be Monday, September 21, from 2:35–3:15. We will meet after school in Mrs. Schofield-Carter’s room, Room 112. Pick-up will be at the front of the school, Door 4. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Schofield-Carter.

We will be joining the Aurora High School homecoming spirit week. Please remember that while you are welcome to participate in these spirit days, you still must follow the student code of conduct. Come out and support girls volleyball tonight as they take on Stow at home! 7th grade plays first at 5:30, followed by 8th grade.

The cross country teams compete in the Streetsboro Rockets Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. Both teams had outstanding performances and many runners improved their times from only a few short days before. The boys faced off against 11 other schools and finished the day with a 2nd place team score. Avery Occhinero led the boys with a 12:18 time and a 7th place finish. On his heels in 8th place was Charlie Giardina and Porter Cole in 10th. Nathan Maione and Owen Fellenstein contributed to the score as well. The girls raced against 8 other schools and absolutely dominated with a 1st place overall team score of 31, edging out second place's 106 points. Kylie Milner won the individual race with an impressive 12:44 time and a 1st place finish. Colette Griffin came in 3rd and Olivia Cicero and Lucille Witham also had top ten finishes. Great job, Girls! The teams will continue their season tomorrow in a dual meet against Nordonia. Keep running hard and congratulations on an outstanding race.

If you answered yes, then please join the Quiz Bowl team and attend our first meeting today after school in Mrs. Sunderhaft's room after school until 3:15 to learn more.

Today: Speech Club

The results are in! The top three genres that students would like to read on a deserted island are - first Mystery, second Fantasy, and third Realistic Fiction. The names of the students who entered will be announced during lunch. Listen, you might just be a winner! Thank you to all who entered.

The Speech Club will hold its first meeting today after school in Mrs. Sunderhaft's room until 3:15. This club meets 2-3 times a month and will attend at least 3 Saturday tournaments where members will present a speech that they have written or the speech of a famous person. Come by and check it out if you are interested in becoming a better public speaker.

Congratulations to the cross country teams on an amazing opening yesterday at Kenston. The teams waited out an hour long lightning delay before taking to the field, and their grit and toughness really shined as the teams brought home many awards. The boys finished 3rd with 3 top ten finishers. The team was paced by Avery Occhinero (8th place), Charlie Giardina (5th place), & Porter Cole (4th place) who ran a time of 12:26. Also finishing with strong performances from Owen Fellenstein, Nathan Maione, & Gabe Courtnage. The girls picked up where they left off with 6 of the top 10 spots, easily securing the 1st place team finish. Scoring for the girls were Lucy Witham (10th place), Valeria Kandra (9th place), Olivia Cicero (8th place), Amelia Occhinero (7th place), Colette Griffin (3rd place), & the winner of the race in 1st place was Kylie Milner with a time of 13:03. The teams will continue their season this Saturday at Streetsboro. Congratulations and great work!
